SELO is a Natura 2000 protected site http://www.natura2000.si. Natura 2000 is a network of nature protection areas in the territory of the European Union. It is made up of Special Areas of Conservation and Special Protection Areas designated respectively under the Habitats Directive and Bird Directive.
SELO is also an active participant of the EU-funded Life to Grasslands Project. In winter 2018/19 we will be beginning the job of clearing ~2 hectares of our land and restoring it to meadow orchards. If you are interested in volunteering around this time please get in touch! We will be processing biomass, digging holes, planting trees, erecting tree protection, spreading wildflower seeds…. lots of help needed!
